Are We Married Yet??

There is a brand spanking new site out there dedicated entirely to excellent engagement photography called, appropriately... Are We Married Yet?

There's a ton of wonderful work on it and I am honored to be the featured photographer for today!!! YAY!!

Stop by and show some CT love! I have to say, we are causing quite the stir in the industry by how consistently supportive we all are of each other...this is not the norm everywhere.. so we should be proud of what a sincere, tight knit photo community we have here in New England!

Hope Everyone had a great holiday!

don't box ME in, baby!!

I am SO pumped and honored to be featured on another awesome photography site- called Don't Box Us In a site that interviews photographers that well... think outside of the box!

That is something that I try to do regularly to challenge myself and keep things new- but it can be very hard!

I'm excited, I'm blushing, but I also really wanted to just share this honor with you all- since in all honesty knowing there are people out there that are looking at my images and reading this silly old blog... well it puts the pressure on to keep you coming back!

Stop on over to their site and leave a comment- I love showing everyone how supportive and awesome not only CT is but any C 10 ike friend, no matter where you are!!

I guess I'm an official ROCKTOGRAPHER now!

Ever hear of Trash the Dress? Well DUH, right? Who hasn't?

Well the folks that came up with that site and idea have created another two sites called Modern Photographers where they have created a network of, well, Modern Photographers that think outside of the norm. It's a great place for brides to find photographers that are non-traditional and more artistic and I am honored to be a founding member! (along with a great list of other fantastic CT photographers!)

In keeping with their 'out of the box' mentality (I actually believe they have ANOTHER site called 'Don't Box Us In') they have created a site specifically to feature creative ring shots from their founding members of Modern Photographers.

So you all KNOW I just HAD to enter some stuff!!

Well today I am their FEATURED ROCKTOGRAPHER!!! I have 21 images up there from weddings I shot this past season, and one that squeaked in from last year (Kristin and Matt, Becky & Steve, Melissa & Bill! HEY!)

Check out the shots HERE!

take the leap!

This morning I found out from some friends that I had placed 8th in the Bridal Party category of the WPJA's (wedding photojournalists association) Brides.com photo competition! Their contests are worldwide, and pretty competitive, for me at least! ;)I was a little worried because I didn't actually remember entering, it was quite a while back... so I almost thought they were joking!
But they were not! I am pretty excited, because one of my goals that I was actually laughing about, was to finally place in a WPJA competition! I am the worst editor for these things, and have not placed yet- in fact I had entered this shot once before and it got NADA! So, you never know what each judge will like...So don't be shy and enter shots you are proud of- you never know what could happen!

Big congrats to my friend Jane, she placed second in this category!!!

happy 37th birthday mike!!!

On this fine day 37 years ago my great friend Mike was brought into this world... and we are all better off for it! The streets of East Hartford are rid of crime and debauchery... well at the very least jay walkers! (and you think I'm kidding...!)

But. The most bestest part of it all is that when I finally returned his call in November from last July for him to come and talk shop... and saw what an incredible shooter he was and how big a part of his life he was willing to make photography... and that he made me laugh so hard I would need to start crossing my legs when I laughed... well, let's just say a star was born!

Having Mike become such a big part of my business has changed so many things for me and our clients in such a positive way- having that second set of eyes + his sharp observational skills and then add in his incredibly creative side... well yes please! I'll take it! And my business is all the better for it.

Now the best part and the worst part about Mike is his incredibly humble nature. He has no IDEA what an incredible shooter he is... so as a gift of sorts I want some comments for my boy letting him KNOW how he's doing

So happy birthday big guy!! Join me on a trip down memory lane, shall we?

I shot this on the first day we met, before my studio was done and I was working out of my kid's playroom. And yet I still somehow managed to make him want to stick around...!

This was during Mike's first New York City engagement shoot

This was during his first wedding with me

Mike shot this, actually! It's his first naked photo booth picture! And hopefully our last... :)

This was during our first shoot with the D3.... ah the good times!

And NO he does NOT smile... EVER!!! Anyone have any pictures of Mike smiling??? ;)
