OK, Great

Yesterday I had the pleasure of watching Jeff Reilly, of Face First Films, finish shooting a short he wrote called 'OK, Great' he has been working on for a while. I have to say, watching someone in their element is so much fun. Jeff surrounds himself with talent- from Bob 2.0, to Adrian Correia to the actors- everyone played their part and then some. Everyone was exhausted (I think Jeff said he had a total of 6 hours of sleep in the past 3 days) but still so amped up for their shoot- things got done, and done well. One of the hats Jeff was wearing was that of director. Now, I pride myself on my ability to direct my clients- getting what I need during a shoot and not making them feel like they are out there alone, unsure of what to do, all while making it feel natural and fun. Jeff is at a whole other level. He is so calm, and even- making script changes, lighting adjustments, no big deal. He made his actors feel comfortable, and competent- if they weren't feeling a line, well, they tweaked it so that it flowed better. He also really kept the momentum of the shoot going when it needed that the most. Last take, a bunch of run-throughs, he kept it live and got what he needed. Thanks guys for letting me observe such an incredible day, I hope to do it again soon! Get writing, Jeff!

Thanks Suzie! Yeah it brought me back to my documentary roots shooting these pros! A bit intimidating, but mostly b/c they were walking around all cute with big ass equipment. I was all like, 'I know what a reflector is, Mr. Camera Man!'
Bust out your autograph book b/c you are going to meet Jeff in the flesh next Thursday!
.com- wait till you see how much I shot at your wedding on Saturday! :) Have fun editing THAT!! ;)

Sue- I will check with Jefe and let you know. And why are you being all secretive and having your profile 'not available' what is THAT noise??

You made it fun for me- Mr. Jack of All Trades! How's your groin?

lol, it's fine now, thank you. :)
How are your bug bites? As itchy as mine?

damn carla! that was fantastic! Not only did you really capture the set experience and get beautiful shots but you made us look professional- as if we knew what we were doing and THAT is a truly amazing feat. And by the way to all you Carla fans- she is a ninja and Adrian, the DP, called her so- you never know where she is until she wants you to. I think she even hung upside down from a tree.

2.0- my bites are certainly not as bad as yours- they were mc lovin' you that night!
I will do anything for a shot Jeff, even if it's only you I am shooting ;) But if it makes you look good (and it made you ALL look good) then I will do it! I expect the same from you, ninja skills and tree hanging upside down in for my shoot next week!

no problem. well if I hang upside down in a tree I may end up upside down in traction at the hospital but as long as I get the shot I'll be good.

Carla - Dynamite photos, montage and time lapse! Wish I was there to witness first hand but your coverage gave me some production love. Might be calling you in the future.

Mike Timm!? Of Timm-Burr fame?? NO WAY! Jeff speaks very highly of you! Glad you appreciated the production love, I enjoy sharing my experiences and that was a really fun and profound one to share! Plus Jeff and his guys were so much fun to shoot- can they be any more expressive?

Carla

You are amazing! Ninjaesque is a very fitting term. There are so many shots that I didn't even realize you were getting so much. It's like I am living the day all over again.

Adrian- it was my pleasure, you guys were great and I would do it again in a heart beat! So who's doing the next movie??

Carla,
As one of facefirstfilms biggest fans, I loved your coverage of them at work! I felt like I was there.

Jeff told me about you long term project and it sounds intriguing to me. I think he told me you are coming out with a book, am I right?

Wow, Face First Films is representin' on the carla ten eyck blog! I love it!
Pat- You've got some boy, he is such an excellent director and leader- have you had the pleasure of seeing him at work yet? I can get all sappy on myself thinking of it from your perspective, I have a boy of my very own, my Jack- 5 years old and growing like a weed. But to see your guy at work is truly an amazing thing!
I am/did come out with a book, right now self-published but I am hoping in my perfect world someone would be up for publishing it! Ultimately I am hoping to someday travel the states asking the same question of women all over the country and then finally all over the world. To see the similarities in answers and then the vast differences would alone be fascinating. I hope you get some time to make it to the exhibit, I would love to meet you and walk you through it. It's up for 2 months after the opening!
