the best kind of love story

Last weekend after my 7/7/07 wedding, which I am still editing (I had three photographers!!) I had an engagement shoot scheduled with Kristin & Matt in Rhode Island. I was so tired driving up- the night before I put in some super long hours. I was trying to get myself in the highly energized mind frame that I am normally in for a shoot, but I felt like I was struggling because I was so dead. (I also have given up drinking diet coke, the former love of my life, so this was particularly hard!) Then I get to Matt's, and from the second I stepped out of the car I felt their nervous energy, and saw how in love with each other they are and it was like, wow, pep it UP sister! And I did! They energized me so much that I barely talked during the whole shoot, which most of you know is weird- I am chatty and I love giving my clients feedback on what is working, what's not etc. They were so adorable and seemed to just be themselves and I happened to be there catching it all. We shot in a beautiful park in Jamestown, right across from Newport and was it beautiful! Not only that but the light was stunning, the skies, the clouds, THEM! And the sunset that we were given at the end of the day just wrapped our shoot up with one big pretty orange bow. When we were done shootng on the bluffy part of the park we laid in the grass, which is a scenario I love. I really wanted to get Kristin's feet- well, duh because I love feet pictures! And because she told me that Matt had painted her toenails that day! How romantic and sweet is THAT? Can we say Bull Durham? So while laying in the grass shooting we started having the most amazing conversation about marriage, our parents, love, all kinds of stuff and they really opened up to me as I to them. What a bonding experience- at one point I was just holding my camera I was so engrossed in what we were talking about! Which does not happen often. We then looked over and saw what was going on with the sun and ran over to the other side of the park where I got some of the most beautiful sunset pictures of them. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I did making them!

I love the first and the fourth photo. The angle on the first photo with their feet is awesome. Love the color and contrast in the fourth photo. Great work.

How did you give up diet coke? My wife had been trying to get me to stop drinking it but I don't think I can.

thanks! How could I not reference one of the most romantic moments ever, in Bull Durham? Guys, take notes! ;) Diet coke was not so easy to give up- I have been psyching myself up for a few months- but- my doctor told me that it is really tricking my body into wanting more calories. That's all I needed! Oh and I read the ingredients. YUCK. oh but I still long for it from afar...! That feet shot is one of my all time feet faves!

my cousin is addicted to diet coke and I don't think she'll ever shake it. she'd have an easier time getting off heroin if she was addicted to that!
